SPLENDOR OF YOGA -- MORE INFORMATION
Physical exercise is manual activity that develops or maintains physical fitness and overall health. It is often practiced to strengthen muscles and the cardiovascular system, and to hone athletic skills. Frequent and regular physical exercise boosts the immune system, and helps prevent diseases of affluence such as heart disease, cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes and obesity. It is also improves mental health and helps prevent depression.
Types of exercise.
Exercises are generally grouped into three types depending on the overall effect they have on the human body: Flexibility exercises such as stretching improve the range of motion of muscles and joints.Aerobic exercises such as cycling, walking, running, hiking, and playing tennis focus on increasing cardiovascular endurance.Anaerobic exercises such as weight training, functional training or sprinting increase short-term muscle strength.Exercise benefitsPhysical exercise is important for maintaining physical fitness and can contribute positively to maintaining a healthy weight; building and maintaining healthy bone density, muscle strength, and joint mobility; promoting physiological well-being; reducing surgical risks; and strengthening the immune system.
Frequent and regular aerobic exercise has been shown to help prevent or treat serious and life-threatening chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, insomnia, and depression. Strength training appears to have continuous energy-burning effects that persist for about 24 hours after the training, though they do not offer the same cardiovascular benefits of aerobic exercises. Exercise can also increase energy and raise one's threshold for pain.
There is conflicting evidence as to whether vigorous exercise (more than 70% of VO2 Max) is more or less beneficial than moderate exercise (40 to 70% of VO2 Max). Some studies have shown that vigorous exercise executed by healthy individuals can effectively increase opioid peptides (aka endorphins, a naturally occurring opiate that in conjunction with other neurotransmitters is responsible for exercise induced euphoria and has been shown to be addictive), positively influence hormone production (i.e., increase testosterone and growth hormone).benefits that are not as fully realized with moderate exercise.
Exercise has been shown to improve cognitive functioning via improvement of hippocampus-dependent spatial learning, and enhancement of synaptic plasticity and neurogenesis. In addition, physical activity has been shown to be neuroprotective in many neurodegenerative and neuromuscular diseases. For instance, it reduces the risk of developing dementia.Physical activity is thought to have other beneficial effects related to cognition as it increases levels of nerve growth factors, which support the survival and growth of a number of neuronal cells.
Both aerobic and anaerobic exercise also work to increase the mechanical efficiency of the heart by increasing cardiac volume (aerobic exercise), or myocardial thickness (strength training).
Not everyone benefits equally from exercise. There is tremendous variation in individual response to training: where most people will see a moderate increase in endurance from aerobic exercise, some individuals will as much as double their oxygen uptake, while others will never get any benefit at all from the exercise.Similarly, only a minority of people will show significant muscle growth after prolonged weight training, while a larger fraction experience improvements in strength. This genetic variation in improvement from training is one of the key physiological differences between elite athletes and the larger population.
EXERCISE AND BRAIN FUNCTION.
In the long term, exercise is beneficial to the brain by: increasing the blood and oxygen flow to the brain increasing growth factors that help create new nerve cells increasing chemicals in the brain such as dopamine, glutamate, norepinephrine and serotonin that help cognition.
ALL THAT EXPLAINED ABOVE ARE THEIR IN YOGA AND MEDITATION AND WILL GET BENIFITED .

SPLENDOR OF YOGA -- PART -- 15
PRACTICE "STOPPING"
When you stop, first physically and then through mindfulness of breathing, mentally you give yourself the possibility to catch up with yourself. In our hectic lifestyle at times, we can totally ignore how our body feels, how our mind and emotions are doing and be unaware of accumulated anxiety and stress. So, by stopping, you can begin to restore the important communication with your own self.
For example: When the phone rings, we let it ring three times and while it does so we consiously stop all other activity and come back to our physical body by breathing in and out. This way we use the telephone as means to cultivate peace, calmness and awareness. Similarly, using the computer at home or at work, we must take a short break every 45 minutes. Take a short break for five minutes and move away from the computer or just relax on your chair.Take couple of deep breaths in, relax and feel happy. Doing this will help you have more energy. This also gives you a better sense of how to continue your work.
(MY HONEST REQUEST TO ALL COMPUTER MANUFACTURERS AND SOFTWARE PROGRAMME MANUFACTURERS TO INCORPORATE A BELL RING SOUND IF AND WHEN A PERSON USES THE COMPUTER CONTINUEOUSLY FOR AN HOUR....A BELL RING TONE SHOULD ALERT THE USER TO REALX FOR 5 MINUTES. THIS WILL HELP MILLIONS OF PEOPLE IN THE WORLD)
WALKING "MEDITATION"
This can be simple meditation. We walk very often, so we can easily use this as meditation. We need to slow down 50 -- 70 per cent and take gentle steps on the earth. We must allow our attention to go to the soles of our feet, allowing our energy to come down from heads to our belly and our feet. We may realise that while we are walking slowly, we are at the same time breathing in and out, and we may use this awareness to allow our minds to focus on this activity of walking slowly and being aware of our breathing.
DEEP "RELAXATION"
Lie down for 20 minutes. Take a break; sometimes the activities of the day deplete our energy. Take these 20 minutes for your own self to come back to your body, feeling any area where they may be tension, allowing your breathing in to expand your abdonimal area and letting go with breathing.
Enjoy some moments of silence, inner and outer. Slowly your body and then your mind will respond to this technique.

SPLENDOR OF YOGA -- PART -- 14
MEDITATION HELPS Control long-term depression as well as prescription drugs....according to a new research. British researchers in a study, published in the JOURNAL OF CONSULTING AND CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY revealed that a psychological therapy, which included a range of MEDITATION EXERCISES are as effective in combating long-term depression as medication. In fact, the quality of life is much better....the study said that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) was as effective as maintenance anti-depressents in preventing a relapse and more effective in enhancing the patients quality of life. The study also showed that therapy was cost-effective as prescription drugs in helping people with a history of depression stay well in the longer-term.
CONNECT MIND WITH BODY TO BE HAPPY.
"Happiness is here and now, I have dropped my worries, nowhere to go and nothing to do, I don't need to hurry. Happiness is here and now, I have dropped my worries, nowhere to go and nothing to do,I don't need to hurry".....This is a practice song which enables us to live like free individuals and helps in embodying peace within...said Thich Nhat Hanh, the Vietnamese Zen
master.
Despite materialistic acquisitions, many feel lonely, waiting for someone or something beyond our inner-self to bring us happiness. Sometimes we have all the comforts, but our spirit is empty and we feel incomplete. At the same time there are others who have limited comforts yet they seem to be content with life. We might think somany other things can cure loneliness, but seldom we realise that there are just another way of covering up the emptiness within us.
So, how can a person fill this emptiness within?..... Just hold this feeling of isolation tenderly, without judgement or shame and practice "mindfulness". Mindfulness meditative techniques in daily life have benefited many around the world. Mindfulness is a way to return to yourself and recognize solitude. It's a way to come back to your breathing and aware of the wonderful elements within and around you. mindfulness teaches you to be aware that your loved ones are still with you and it makes you sensitive towards the wonders of nature surrounding you. And with acceptance, this loneliness becomes your friend. Rather than running away from loneliness, we must begin tomake peace and reconciliation within ourselves, which can help us
connect with others in a healthy way and inturn it allows us to connect our body with mind.

SPLENDOROFYOGA -- PART -- 13
With Most modern illness being rooted to anxiety, stress can only be considered to be synonymous with slow death.
Be it insomania, migraines, ulcers, hypertension, gastritis, constipation, forms of cancer and even heart problems, all can be induced by depression and anxiety.
Even a study on the occasion of the World Heart Day, on September 28, showed that women are more susceptible to coronary or heart diseases because their arteries are narrower than that of men.
According to the study, the primary factor for coronary diseases among modern world women is the stress they are subjected to at work and home. to add to this depression, over working, higher level of frustation at work and excessive family tensions, create greater aggression and takes a toll on the quality of life of women today.
Because of the life style changes the women are cornered to stress. The mortality rate among women suffering from cardiovascular diseases today is higher than that of men across the world.
Stress, then could be one of the many reasons for acquiring a heart ailment.
MEDITATION SAFEGUARDS BODY AS WELL AS MIND.
As the mind is in the state of self hypnosis, whatever you command to your mind is accepted and registered in the subconsious mind. If you practice MEDITATION early in the morning you will be astonished with the experience you get and it will surprise you.
When this exercise reached completeness our mind gets prepared for MEDITATION.
By meditation not only the organs of the body but also automatically and independently functioning parts can be brought in to control -- is said by a scientist. There is a connection between SLEEP and MEDITATION. In both of these states one is controlled in allways and keeps us healthy. HYPOTHALAMUS is stimulated. In sleep we are unconcious whereas in MEDITATION we are unconcious while being concious.
MEDITATION withers away tensions and purifies the mind and keeps us active, sharp and brisk. We can feel the awakeing of self awareness keeping us alert. Knowing oneself should be the only noble target in the sea of life, hence benefits will arise innumerably.
METHOD
Sit erect on a carpet, close the eyes; now search in to the closed eyes on the dark screen; then thought must settle on inhaling and exhaling. Then take a vow "Let the mind jupm wherever it likes; let it go wherever it wants but I won't open my eyes for 5 minutes." And remain in the pose.
After some days of practice increase it to 10 minutes and later on step by step increase it to 20 minutes. During the time of closed eyes just count numbers from 50 to 01 (depending upon the time, make it 30 to 01 or 20 to 01). For beginning this is enough.
LET US DISCUSS MORE ABOUT MEDITATION IN MY NEXT UPDATE....

SPLENDOR OF YOGA -- IMPORTANT INFORMATION -- PART -- 1
In the functioning of the human system, it is the life-force that plays the main role; the physical structure serves only as a container. a closer study of the human being will reveal that it consisits of five layers corresponding to the five elements: solid, liquid, heat, air and ether. Solid is the physical structure, liquid is the blood, heat is electricity, air is oxygen and ether is the life-force. The subtle life-force and the gross solid body are linked together by three media, viz., liquid, heat and air. If the normal quantity and quality of these media and the pace of their circulation within the human system are adversly affected in any way, the life-force in its electrical function gets short-circuited and the molecular arrangement in the physical body is disturbed or punctured. As a result, the life-force gets obstructed, diverted or exhausted in proportion to the extent of the disturbance and the intensity of the short-circuit. Whenever there is such disturbance, it is called pain. If the disturbance is more, the pain is also more, as there is corresponding increase in the exhaustion of the life-force. If the disturbance is for a short period, it is known as pain. if it extends over a long period, it is known as disease. If the disturbance is of such magnitude that a major portion of the life-force is exhausted, the functioning of the physical body gets paralyzed and comes to a standstill; such condition is known as death.
From the above analysis it will be clear that for maintaining good health one should guard against disturbances in the physical body, the life-force and the three media. Distrubances occur in two ways: either through our own actions or through the fuctioning of natural forces. Neglect, improper or over indulgence in food, sleep, work, sex and use of thought-force are the factors by which the disturbances are caused by our own actions; climatic differences, hereditary imprints and changes in the intensity of radiation of planets due to variation of distances and their conjunctions are the factors by which disturbances are caused by natural forces. Nature has provided a certain amount of immunity in all human beings against such distrubances. But if this immunity level is crossed, health gets impaired. We can, to a large extent, avoid these actions that cause such disturbances. But, sometimes, we become victims to circumstances and act in such a way that we cross the immunity level. It is not possible to avoid the consequences of the functioning of the natural forces. Hence, the only course of action open to us is to rise our immunity level, so that our body will be able to to withstand not only our own erroneous actions, but also the unpredictable onslaught of natural forces.
Over the centuries, man has discovered that throgh suitable physical exercises, he can develop and increase his immunity level so that he may gaurd against ill health. In case he falls a victim to disease due to unavoidable causes, he can recoup his health quickly.
There are two aspects in physical exercises: Postures and movements. the three media which we have referred to earlier (blood, heat and air) are circulating in the hyman system one within the other according to their specific gravity and they are governed by the centripetal pull exercised by the Earth. When the normal position of the body is altered or when a part of the body is moved or turned towards the Earth or away from it, the location of the three media in that portion or part is also altered. When a part of the body is turned towards the Earth, a little more blood flows to that part and little more air goes to the otherside or part of the body which is upward. In addition to this, if a rhythmic movement is also given, all the three media are suitably regulated. Through such systematic and well-regulated movements, the various parts of the body get cleansed, strengthened and rejuvenated. Thus we can, through proper physical exercises, achieve a level of immunity against diseases which will enable us to maintain good health in spite of occasional erroneous actions or adverse natural forces.
From time immemorial, various types of physical exercises have been formulated in various countries according to the climatic conditions, the mode of life and various other factors prevailing in those climates. These exercises were, to large extent, formulated to suit an earlier age which was one of leisure when things moved slowly. Times have changed and we now live in an age of speed, stress and tension. Hence, our needs too are different and we cannot blindly adopt the exercises devised long ago that were found suitable for those times.

SPLENDOR OF YOGA -- PART -- 12
YOGA is completely rational system for training a man to reach the highest possible levels of integrations. It can stand the tests of modern science also. It is universal, not bound by dogmas and beliefs of any particular religion. That it is available to all, irrespective of any limitation of race, caste, creed, sex, nationality, age, etc.,etc.
YOGA is the perfect control of mind and consiciousness on all its level. With perfection in it, the man is established in his absolute, genuine, unsullied state. In all other states, he is tainted by and involved in mental aberrations.
YOGA is a training by which man remains completely unaffected by worldly happenings. YOGA is complete freedom from misery.
.....women, commercial people and even those of lowest level, can reach the highest goal of YOGA.
As well as young, old, very old, decript, diseased, or weak person will attain success if he practses YOGA untiringly.
WHAT YOGA IS:
Many people have very wrong or confused conception about YOGA. They equate it to difficult, painful, acrobat-like feats performed by some mendicaments who are mistaken for yogins. Thus lying on a bed of nails, or swallowing glass-pieces, acids, poisons, and such other things are mistaken for yogic achievements. Others, seeing some elementary practices of some yoga schools, consider it to be a system of gymnastics for body building. Some consider it as a mystical system, some times associating it with certain religious rituals, or certain legendary gains of supernormal or miraculous power like walking on water, or in the fire, or flying through air, etc.
But YOGA essentially has nothing to do with these things. It is a very old, well-tested scientific system of training human organism in all its aspects-body, mind and spirit, and bring into it the highest possible integration.
Thus YOGA may be said to be a method to produce a well integrated man who is nearer to "super-man" as postulated even by some of today's thinkers.
All these definitions clearly indicate that YOGA is considered to be a method of producng a man who is most integrated, equilibrated, master of his own mind, who can face the adversities of the world and life blodly and overcome them in the most successful way.
THIS IS THE REASON W.H.O, THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION CALLS IT AS YOGA THERAPY IS AN ART OF CURING DISEASES. MANY COUNTRIES INTRODUCED YOGA TRAINING EVEN TO THE WELL ORGANIZED MILITARY PERSONS AND MANY CORPORATE COMPANIES AROUND THE WORLD STARTED GIVING TRAINING TO THEIR ALREADY HIGHLY SKILLED WORKFORCE TO FURTHER MAKE THEM STRONG AND INTELLIGENT.

SPLENDOR OF YOGA......MORE INFORMATION
The pain of pregnancy and the possibility of post-natal scars can cause nightmares to women. But now they can look forward to pain-free delivery, thanks to METERNITY YOGA, an initiative launched by a reputed Indian YOGA Association.
"I feel relaxed after undertaking METERNITY YOGA. I made some changes in my food. The YOGA association assured me a natural delivery." said a young women in her six month of pregnancy.
A woman doctor who herself experienced painless delivery with the help of MATERNITY YOGA, said every woman should do METERNITY YOGA during pregnancy "to gift the child a sound mind and body"."There are few YOGIC Exercises which will help the mother feel rested and relaxed during the birth of the child. Regular practice of these YOGIC exercises will make the muscle cooperate better" she added.
"METERNITY YOGA IS THE ALTERNATIVE TO CAESARIAN.There are 40 special YOGIC exercises that willreduce the delivery risk by 70
per cent. Women can start this even from the third month of pregnancy. It will improve the flexibility in the groin and hip region and help regulate their breath" said the 80 year old teacher and organizer of this association.
WARNING: PRACTISING METERNITY YOGA BY FOLLOWING A BOOK OR CD CAN BE UNSAFE. A TEACHER IS ESSENTIAL TO SUGGEST THE TYPE OF EXERCISE SUITED TO THE HEALTH OF THE MOTHER AND THE CHILD.
YOGA FOR SEXY ARMS.
Here is our yoga expert Juhi Garg, who will address all your queries about yoga and also write on yogic exercises.
Well toned arms can really send out a lot of messages. One that you might be some karate or taekwondo champ, or into weight lifting or rather even better, that you’re totally toned and fit, which shows even on your arms. To get that no-bulge-hanging-loosely look, try these at home. These are a bit tricky, so I suggest you get yourself some professional supervision to help you with them.
1. Plank Pose: Lie on the floor with your head facing down and hands bent by the elbow, kept by the chest sides. Now lift your torso up to make your hands be straight and perpendicular to the floor, back and legs straight and the palms right below the shoulders. Now raise your legs to rest only on feet fingers. The neck to be straight in line with the back. Stay for at least 30-60 counts, come down slowly and relax. Repeat once more.
2. Four Limb Staff Pose: Lie on the floor facing down. Hands bent at the elbow kept by your waist side. Now raise your torso and legs to make the entire body parallel to the ground. Your legs to rest on the feet fingers and the body on the feet fingers and palms. Do not let your hips get raised upwards or lower back sway towards the floor. Body to be straight Neck also straight, look downwards at the floor. Stay for 20-30 counts, then slowly come down and relax, repeat once more.
3. Upward facing dog: Lie on the floor with face down and the top of your feet touching the ground. Arms to be bent at the elbow by the side of your waist. Now raise your torso upwards to make it parallel to the wall in front of you and make your arms get straight and perpendicular to the floor. Palms to be below the shoulders. Don’t let your thighs or legs even touch the floor, which makes your entire body above the ground. You rest only on the top of your feet and the palms. Neck to be straight and looking in front. Count till 30, come down and relax. Repeat twice.

SPLENDOR OF YOGA -- PART --10
YOGA is very often confused with dogma and sectarian religion; especially it is very often mistaken as unconditionally bound to Hinduism. This belief of close linkage of YOGA and dogmatic religion is strengthend by one definition of YOGA very popularly quoted:"YOGA IS A UNION OF THE SOUL WITH THE SUPER SOUL OF GOD".
But, the standard scientific YOGA and its texts do not subscribe to this view.In fact, Our YOGA guru Patanjali bases his YOGA system mostly on the philosophy which is either atheist or at least non-committal about God. Patanjali has accepted an additional principale some what equivalent to God, but he has left it open to the aspirant whether to accept it or not.
THIS IS A VERY CLEAR INDICATION THAT EVEN ATHEIST CAN FOLLOW AND SUCCEED TO THE HIGHEST STAGES OF YOGA.
THUS YOGA, IS UNIVESAL, AND IT IS AVAILABLE TO ANY MAN OF ANY RELIGION AND IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
WHAT YOGA CAN DO FOR THE MODERN WORLD IN ITS PREDICAMENT?
YOGA, being complete in every scientific disicpline for creating highest integration in Man, is a very vast science. It has also a history of several milleniums 'Naturally', therefore, it has developed several schools with their own techniques, methodologies and philosophies. One cause of such variety has been due to the variable nature of different individuals. All these YOGA schools and their methods are really speaking useful for the progress and well-being of the whole human race. But the present day-humanity, majority of whose members are pressed by the rush of the march of time and the unavoidable evils or difficulties of the predominentely materialistic outlook of life, may find it not very easy to take real benefit from all this vast treasures of the science of YOGA. Yet, the health and efficiency of body and mind are of fundamental importance for every human, even today. This, YOGA can satisfy with the least amount of expenditure of time, labour, as well as money.
In fact even the modern medicine is recognizing more and more that in the future, man will have to face the stresses of such speed of life in a greater and greater degree. The native belief that the present materialistic progress providing greater, and greater comforts and external environment will solve all our problems, and make man happy, is proving to be a
very false illusion. The comparisons of glaring mental health statistics of the various countries can easily open our eyes to this fact. The most advanced countries have the highest percentage of persons being put in to mental institutions every year and in general, an inverse relationship will be found in the state of progress of nation and the percentage of persons admitted for mental treatments.
The YOGIC techniques provide either independent or atleast ancillary treatment for a number of psychosomatic and psychological disorders. YOGA can make its own remarkable and substantial contribution. In fact, some individuals and private institutions on their own are doing this service to humanity to some extent. Even Medical men are appriciating the special potentiality of YOGA and they themselves taking recourse to this method of therapy very often when they find that all other things in their repertory are of no avail.
LET US HOPE THAT OUR NATIONALISTIC GOVERNMENTS WITH THEIR PROGRESSIVE OUTLOOK WILL NOT FALL BEHIND IN MAKING USE OF THIS GREAT TREASURE OF OUR ANCIENTS BECAUSE OF FALSE, PREJUDICED OR INCOMPLETE UNDERSTANDING.

SPLENDOR OF YOGA.....INFORMATION
FACE YOGA, POWER YOGA, AND EVEN HOT YOGA. THE WORLD'S OLDEST HEALTH AND FITNESS SYSTEM IS GETTING REMIXED WITH FUSION MOVES AND IS HIT THE WORLD OVER.
Nature's greatest contribution to the world is YOGA. And in this new age of fitness, the ancient science of YOGA has kept pace with time with its new and unique avatars like Dance Yoga, Face Yoga, Power Yoga and, believe it or not Hot Yoga.
Attempting to combine the best of both worlds, these variants are breathing new life into an otherwise commonplace and all-too-familiar milieu of the world's oldest dicipline. Among the latest of entrants to the new age YOGA scene is facial or Face Yoga, which has literally converted botox believers into Yoga disciples. Face Yoga is now being touted as a way to attain the fountain of youth ( at least when it comes to the face). The methodology involves specific exercises tailor-made for the face, which involves relaxation and stress busting routines. These procedures are said to be very helpful in fighting wrinkles and thereby defying age.
World renowned practitioners like Madhavi Padhy, a former consultant in stress management and yoga for the United Nations conducts private classes world over. His fans comprise big Hollywood names like Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and Victoria 'Posh' Beckham.
POWER YOGA, a rigorous workout routine modelled on the basics of yoga. This routine is also known to have made yoga populr in gyms all over the world. It's balso favorite among celebrities like Modonna. However, unlike the original, Power Yoga is focussed more on attaining strength and flexibility.
HOT YOGA, practised in a heated room, to clean toxins.
YOGA is a management system for life and it is the most holistic approach to life that everyone should come across. It works on body, mind and soul by strengthening, toning and curing from within.YOGA will have a spectacular impact on life.
From the time The Beatles took that one big step which embedded eastern spirituality in a typically western conciosness, the image of YOGA changed forever; transforming its appeal from being merely a new-fangled, exotic form of meditation to the larger, multiethinic, culturally inclusive context of a different lifestyle altogether.
With international proponents ranging from rock stars like Sting and Carlos Santana to Hollywood beauties like Eva Longoria and Nicole Kidman, YOGA has found a voice that echoed by millions across the world, choosing to take a road whose foundation stones were laid more than 2000 years ago.
Many strongly believe that in stressful times, one needs to have an outlet to relax and meditate and YOGA helps in that. It's also a health investment of sorts as it's one exercise any one can do at any age, unlike the gyms where one can't pump iron after 70.

SPLENDOR OF YOGA -- PART -- 9
Today we ask explanation to each and everything we do. Men and women whether young or old, whether wealthy or poor, whether literate or illiterate started analyzing their problems by themselves for a satisfying solution. This culture has spread widely among us. Yoga provides us a solution to this introspective enigma.
More knowledge of yogic exercise is not sufficient. To this day there has been a tremendous increase of yogic guide books. Everyday T.V. telecasts programs regarding yogic techniques and even weekly and monthly magazines carry articles about them. Media critics too welcome these yogic contributions though it has spread through all channels of media to laymen. Actually they are not put into regular practice. They have readymade answers for their indifferent attitude and give lame excuses like:
1) They don’t like to practice it.
2) They are preoccupied with work, no time to spare to practice, they stress that their work itself is yoga.
3) So, they argue that after their daily work they feel too enervated and couldn’t practice yoga.
4) Therefore there is no time for yoga and Meditation.
If you analyze these excuses as correct or wrong, you will get these answers.
1) If one is haunted by his own likes and dislikes and persists a path of adamancy the progress in life is hampered.
2) Life has to be sought with dedication and discipline having the goal of progress in it. It is just for an individual and a society to search for the guidelines. Then only one can achieve his goal of life.
3) When body and mind function properly one could achieve his target quickly and dedicatedly better than others.
4) By doing yoga one could recover vitality of body dispelling tiredness.
Yoga is essential for life as that of food, water, sleep, rest, dress, work, good habit and etc.
Yoga serves as a tonic to restore the lost energy. Yoga tones every part of body and it steers us to be an energetic person to handle even uphill tasks.
Age, body strength, work and mind are important factors used to determine what one has to do.
“Where there is a will there is a way” has to be remembered. Dedication and interest will make it possible to practice YOGA with ease.
YOU WILL UNDERSTAND HOW YOGA AND MEDITATION BENEFITS US IN MY NEXT UPDATE.

SPLENDOR OF YOGA - PART - 8
DANCE is also a kind of exercise. It can also be taken as a kind of YOGA and MEDITATION.
Dance therapy uses dance as a method of treatment for diabetes, stress, hypertension, cervical spondylitis and migraine using the same communion of the body mind factor.
Letting your body sway to the rhythm of musical beats isn’t just pleasure. It also helps relieve physical ailments, fosters mental peace and gives rise to a feeling of contentment. Throughout the ages and across cultures, dance has been a medium to express a plethora of powerful emotions. Some dance in celebration, some to let go off bottled feelings,
Some for fun while some dance in devotion. DANCE IS ENERGY IN MOTION.
Dance can also bring the mind, body and soul in perfect harmony. Dance therapy is treatment in which choreographed movements of body are used to treat social, emotional, cognitive and physical problems. With the premise that emotional anxiety results in muscle tension and constrained moments, the therapy work towards healing in rhythmic manner.
Dance therapy is founded on the premise that the body and mind are inter-related entities and the state of the body affects the mental and emotional wellbeing of a person in diverse ways. It helps bring out the inner feelings of the participants and helps them develop a healthy personality. The joyful rhythm invokes positive emotions and visualizations of the beauty of the nature.
All type of dances that have body moments can be used in this therapy.

We should balance our body and mind with will power. Yoga is not merely to give vitality and beauty. The body is a temple. So it has to be kept clean untouched by diseases with the help of Yoga. The Yogic practices serve as a shield with exercises. Age and physical strength never hinder the path of Yoga. It has to be practiced in accordance to one’s age and strength. It could be practiced anywhere by anyone. Mental purity has to be brought in to focus. Meditation plays a greater role in keeping the mind calm and relaxed. Almost every Yoga technique has spinal cord as its base. Reason is the functioning of spinal cord acts as an instrument in controlling all parts of the body.
Spinal cord plays the role of chassis in a vehicle using legs as its wheel. As we are continuously engaged in one or more activities in our routine life as all nerves are directly in touch with spinal cord it is stressed and gets worn-out soon.( Four legs in animals give ample amount of support to the spinal cord, hence animals are free of spinal problems). Naturally we need some support by means of walking stick. Now we understand how significant our spinal cord is.
ELEMENTS OF HEALTH
A man’s mental and physical health is determined by his spinal cord and his proper functioning of his excretory glands – mentions Science.
Yoga postures are directed in such a way that spinal cord and excretory glands get kindled increasing the power of immunity to fight diseases.
SPINAL CORD
Nerves system consists of brain, which is enclosed in the cranial cavity of the skull. The spinal cord which extends from the brain through an opening at the base of skull down through the spinal column to about the level of the navel and peripheral nerves. These nerves include the pair of cranial nerves which extend from the brain mostly to various parts of the head and 31 pairs of spinal nerves which extend to neck, trunk and extremities. The nerves are a bundle of long cylindrical microscopic fibers and 16 inches in length. Hence it is rightly called the Second Brain. For example when we step on a thorn we immediately react to it by raising our legs. We get this order not from the mind but from the spinal cord. Spinal cord is the pivotal part of the body. The brain and the cord are connected by the nerves. Likewise nerves begin from cord with many branches connected to the muscle tissues of the body. This arrangement makes cord to serve as link between brain and the body by helping brain to get messages from all over the body in the form of feelings and sensations. At the same time it also carries order from the brain to the muscle tissues to the other parts of the body.
Spinal Cord serves as a junction for brain and body. It is difficult for one to think a man without spinal cord. As it has the function of heart, lungs, large intestines etc.etc in it’s hand.
Of all living creatures in the world only man could lay back on his spinal cord to sleep and rest.
Next to spinal cord, glands in our body play a prominent role. I will let you know in my next update.

SPLEDOR OF YOGA ----- PART-6
splendor of yoga -- part - 6
ESSENCE OF ROSARY……… (MEDITATION)
SAVIOUR
The rosary has always been a weapon against heresy and trouble. The October 7, 1571 victory of Christendom over Islamic warriors at the Battle of Lepanto, the first Naval Victory against the infidels, was attributed to directly to the rosaries prayed by the faithful.
ANTIDOTE
The rosary is meant to influence society as a whole. Several papal encyclicals speak of the social consequences or the effects on society, which meditation on the mysteries of the rosary could produce. The holy and powerful life of Jesus Christ is to be a real antidote and remedy for the errors affecting society.
MEDITATION
Pope says its essence is “to recall the mysteries of salvation in succession, while the subject of meditation is mingled and interlaced with the Angelic Salutation and prayer to God the Father”. Meditation on the mysteries of salvation is a short and easy method to nourish faith and to preserve it from ignorance and error.

SPLENDOR OF YOGA----5
Part – 5
GUIDING YOGASANA
Any physical agony or pain will affect the mental attitude. Reciprocally any mental anguish will affect the body. Even Science has agreed to this.
NURISH THE BODY, CHERISH THE LIFE. It means life dies with body. Resolute intellectual wisdom cannot be achieved. Hence we have to learn to sustain our body. So we have to pursue the path of yoga. By practicing yoga we learn to live fully. Body suffers from diseases whenever mind suffers from Mayas. These exercises control our physical ailment, as well as mental illusions and merge with God.
There are totally 64 types of yoga. Among them there are only four vital ones in use. They are:-
1) RAJA YOGA ----- MEDITATION
2) HATHA YOGA ----- ASANA (Sitting postures), PRANAYAMA (Breathing exercises)
3) LAYA YOGA ------ BHAJANS (Devotional prayer)
4) MANTRA YOGA ---- RECITING MANTRAS
Yoga was born with man. We can find evidence of it from our ancient people. Yoga helps to lengthen the span of life.
Yoga leads one to tranquilize the mind without allowing it to waver hither and thither. It helps one to control the mind without being victimized by the evil and wicked thoughts and desires.
